State leaders push laws to bring down drones

Route Fifty, November 14, 2025

Brett Feddersen, VP of Strategy and Government Affairs at D-Fend Solutions, explains: “People want to make sure that their privacy in their own backyard is secure. People want to make sure that the drones that are flying are safe and legal to use, and they're relying on state and local law enforcement and individuals in the community to provide them those answers.”

But while the idea of bringing down drones may conjure images of someone shooting a firearm at one in the hopes of destroying it, the truth is a lot more nuanced. Companies like D-Fend Solutions instead look to take over a drone’s operation and land it safely.

    MEET A D-FENDER

Joel Kronk, Principal R&D Integration Engineer

Joel Kronk - Bob

Joel Kronk is the Principal R&D Integration Engineer at D-Fend Solutions in the United States, where he plays a key role in bridging advanced hardware with external civilian and military command-and-control platforms. He specializes in integrating D-Fend's advanced EnforceAir counter-drone technology with customers’ existing architectures, helping deliver reliable, integrated C-UAS solutions.

Joel’s journey to D-Fend is rooted in a strong background in software and systems engineering. Over his career, he has taken on challenging roles across different industries.

"My most fulfilling work often came when I was integrating military-grade hardware into command-and-control systems."

Before joining D-Fend, Joel worked at AEVEX Aerospace, where he contributed to integrating various sensors and radios on small UAVs.

When he’s not wrestling with code or system integration, Joel makes the most of his free time: he’s an avid paintballer, enjoys keeping aquariums, plays disc golf, and, most importantly, spends quality time with his family.

His expertise is especially critical in D-Fend’s mission, and he understands that for counter-UAS solutions to be truly effective, they operate seamlessly and without disruption.

With Joel on the team, D-Fend continues advancing its ability to deploy in complex environments, enabling customers to achieve both control and continuity, two of the company's core values in enabling a drone-empowered future.
