Selected news, content, incidents, and information about C-UAS, and the counter-drone world, from a D-Fend perspective, based on our vision of enabling a flourishing and secure drone-powered society by safely defending against rogue drone threats.
“Demand for C-UAS... the U.S. Army and Marine Corps are prioritizing the application of emerging technologies, especially unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and the ability to counter them.” “Contemporary conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza have demonstrated just how important C-UAS has become. As UAS technologies rapidly develop and proliferate, the ability to counter these systems also becomes paramount, creating a cat-and-mouse-like trend of adversarial competition...it’s clearly worth giving these technologies a closer look.” “The need for C-UAS has grown significantly due to the proliferation of recreational, commercial, and military drones. “ • RF Cyber Takeover: This method uses radio frequency cyber-takeover technology that allows an operator to remotely take full control of a rogue drone and land it safely in a predefined zone. • Example: D-FEND Solutions’ EnforceAir “They represent some of the most cutting-edge advancements in the UAS and C-UAS markets. ..A key concept to note is that as UAS evolve, C-UAS must adapt in kind, and the Defense Department must stay abreast of these evolutions to ensure continued dominance as unmanned systems become evermore present on the battlefield.”
The Toronto Star, Canada’s largest daily newspaper, in a major article about the increasing number of drone drops to Ontario prisons, pointed to D-Fend Solutions as a company that “offers solutions to the illegal traffic”…. “The company applies these skills to continuously develop new capabilities, with an eye to proactively build next-generation solutions and always staying a drone threat ahead.”
The article also presented D-Fend’s perspectives on the challenge of kinetic technologies at prisons.

EnforceAir2 Military Vehicle Deployment Kit Commercial drones are increasingly used in asymmetrical warfare, as well as conventional military conflicts, for explosive attacks, gathering intelligence on troop movements and formations, and disrupting aircraft flight patterns. Soldiers must be able to move freely, with protection against rogue drone attacks and surveillance.
TheEnforceAir2 Military Vehicle Kitoffers uncompromised mobility and protection ON THE MOVE for all classes of military vehicles with non-jamming mitigation technology that does not interfere with the vehicle's GPS signals or communication systems.
David Beatty joined D-Fend in July 2022 as Sales Director, Canada, coming to the company after a 35-year career with the Canadian military.
During his service, Dave obtained a great deal of experience with ground-based robotics, loitering munitions, drones, and other UAS. He also has a very extensive background in C-UAS, defending against rogue drones on the battlefield and in other environments.
“During my time with the Canadian military, I had the opportunity to work with a number of C-UAS technologies. My current passion for EnforceAir is based on my confidence in its performance and power in preforming its protective mission.”
Dave holds a BA (Hons) and an MA in Military Science and maintains several qualifications pertaining to UAVs in Canada and internationally. An avid outdoorsman, Dave resides on his small hobby farm with his partner Trisha, two horses, two dogs, and a myriad of other creatures. A self-proclaimed "lazy farmer," he uses drones on the farm to check the status of his maple trees.
"Counter-UAS is a program very near to my heart. I have had the opportunity to observe just how dangerous weaponized drones can be and am watching as drone threats in Canada continue to rise. As a result, D-Fend Team Canada is on the road a fair amount, conducting demonstrations and participating in events to showcase EnforceAir2 across the country with the aim of getting this best of breed solution into the hands of the people who need it."
Inside Unmanned Systems’ Richard Thomas and D-Fend Solutions’ Jeffrey Starr had a wide-ranging discussion on drone proliferation, protecting the developing UAV ecosystem, emerging threats and vulnerabilities, and new generation cyber C-UAS technologies that bring selective and surgical methods to overcome the danger of hostile UAVs.
